Hi friends! I hope everyone has had a fantastic week. The smoke is finally starting to get better around here and I can’t wait to start spending more time outside with my munchkins before big C starts KINDERGARTEN (I still have a hard time believing he’s going to be a kindergartner!)
We bought our house when it was a bank-owned property back in 2014. We fell in love with it immediately. I didn’t even want to go see it because it was on a busy road and I couldn’t fathom the idea of having babies, dogs and kitties on a main road. My husband and our realtor (who was an old co-worker of mine) convinced me to “just go look at it” and the rest is history. There was no going back, I NEEDED that house.
One of my main issues was the color. I hated it. I mean, who paints their house THIS shade of green. It was terrible but my husband promised me that once the paint started to fade or peel, I could pull out the paint swatches an paint it whatever color I wanted to (muah-ha-ha!)
In the meantime, I needed to fix this front door of ours. It was the same white that came from the factory – like never, ever painted… or wiped down for that matter. It was pretty rough and only getting rougher with my clan of boys going in and out all day.
This is what it looks like… YIKES.
I had to paint it something, but what on earth goes with that green? I had friends and family suggesting colors. One even said I should do yellow like John Deer colors… that was a little not my style. Someone suggested maroon, but I went through my maroon phase and I’ve moved on. So what better color than black? I was off to Ace Hardware to buy my new black paint.
I’ll spare you the process but I want to share my after photo. Look at how much of a difference a little bit of black paint made. I completely love it. It’s my favorite part of the exterior now and I can’t notice the little hand prints all over it.
What do you guys think? Anyone else obsessed with painting anything and everything black?
Until next time my friends <3
